Don't Think I'll Be Here Too Long

Inkjet Prints. Photography, 17x17 inches. (2015)

Artist Statement:

This project examines the everlasting interaction between desire and death, “Eros and Thanatos” two principal concepts that drive human existence. These three portraits take a grim focus on the subject of intimate relationships, and more specifically on the subject of queer relationships along with its collective immediate past history in the Western world. “Clocks” exposes a moment of passion with the looming reference to Felix Gonzalez Torres’ work “Perfect Lovers”. “Marks” overlaps marks of passion with an unclear reference to marks of Kaposi’s sarcoma, a type of skin cancer associated to the AIDS epidemic in the 80’s. “Tapes” functions on a broader sense of lust and loss, it shows this character interacting with lost information on a bed in a submissive position.
